Jokes On You I Have TWO Moms...

Hey y’all!

This week was my first week in Oklahoma! I love it here!

On Tuesday morning at 3:30 Sister Demmerly and I left the MTC! Some elders in our district who were leaving a little after us came to say goodbye and help with our luggage. So kind of them haha.

We had to haul our suitcases onto a bus, then a train, then another train, then a bus to the airport. What a TRIP!

When we got to the airport, we were weighing our stuff. We weighed it the night before and both were a little less than 50. One of mine was 50, but the other was a whopping 53.4. My heart sank because that meant I would have to pay way more money. As the worker was about to tell me that it would cost about an extra $200, we both watched the numbers slowly go down until it was exactly 50 pounds. My jaw literally dropped, and so did the workers. He said to have a good day, and I immediately gave thanks to my Heavenly Father because that was so cool and the biggest miracle.

The rest of the time in the airport was Sister Demmerly and I absolutely gawking at the miracle that we witnessed, sleeping (Sister Demmerly has been so kind to always take pictures of me sleeping) and we saw Elder Coulter and Elder Isaacs from our district at our gate!

We got to Oklahoma that afternoon, of course I slept like a baby on the plane. Our Mission President (President Hughes) and his wife came to meet us! I slept at their house with some Hermanas overnight, only time I’ll be called Hermana Jenni haha. It was great, they came from the Mexico MTC.

I was talking to the President for my interview, and he asked what I was looking for in a trainer. I just said that I’m not sure what I want, but God knows exactly what I need so I won’t complain. I said that if I had a say, I would want to be with someone who liked to laugh. He said, “Oh I have the sisters for you. I’m putting you in a trio.” I asked if they liked to laugh, and he said “oh…they love to laugh…”

The next morning I met my trainers! Sister Sodeborg and Sister Oakeson! They are the best people ever! And yes, we laugh so much. They told me that I may think they’re weird but I can assure you I fit right in. Y’all know how much I love random accents, and lemme tell ya Sister Oakeson could be a voice actress. She’s got so many accents down.

I’m in a town called Norman, and I absolutely love it. The people here are sweet, but quite interesting.

I could go on forever with our friends, goodness we have so many. We’ve got two people on date for baptism this month, and are working to get two more this week. The work here is crazy haha.

A lot of you know that I sometimes I lack confidence in my words, but here-talking about Christ- I am so confident in the things that I have to say. Missionary me is very confident, very bold, and very blunt.

Highlights of the week:

the sunsets here are so beautiful

i’m finding random bruises everywhere

met the person who designed the preach my gospel booklet for missionaries

had a friend tell me how she died and came back to life “it wasn’t hot, that’s when I knew I was going up”

had so many pictures taken of me sleeping- its a trend now

I was born! So we went to braums

I bore my testimony to a guy and all he had to say was “wow, you have a really soft voice…” okay…

spent 6 hours at church on sunday since we are over more than one ward

This week was all over that place. Lots of hard goodbyes, exciting hellos, appointments falling through, plenty of miracles.

In life, we really don’t know what to expect… EVER!! But one thing never changes, God’s love for us. 1 Nephi 10:18 says that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His love for you will never change! Y’all. GET TO KNOW GOD!! He is the best. He knows you perfectly, it is only fair that you try to know him. Let him be your foundation, because if He isn’t, what will be?

I’d invite you all to work on saying more meaningful prayers this week. I would recommend keeping a prayer journal. Write down the impressions you have while spending your time with God. He wants to enlighten us and give us direction!! Let me know how it goes!!

People to pray for:

Brandon

Chris

Toni

Edwin

Nancy

Becky

Norma
