WILD WEEK
Hello everyone!!
THANK YOU so much for the birthday wishes!! It honestly meant the world to me. Y’all are so sweet haha.
This week was WILD!!
Literally right after I sent last week’s email, we had a tornado watch. We were supposed to take Sister Allen back to OU but President said to just do it in the morning. So we went home, and when we pulled up to our building, there was an alarm going off. We were all like, “that must be annoying for those people’s neighbors…” Then as we got closer we realized that it was US!! It was our Carbon Monoxide alarm!!
So basically, after some calls, a chicken quesadilla at the Kartchner’s home, all three of us having headaches because we were paranoid, a visit from the firefighters, and us saying our last words on camera in case we didn’t wake up the next morning (sister sody’s idea, they’re pretty hilarious to watch now)-- turns out the alarm was FIVE YEARS EXPIRED!!!!! That was the housing coordinator’s job apparently so it was an interesting call with them.
Since we were paranoid, President Hugues let us sleep in a hotel for the night. It was so fun!! Felt like a vacation even tho we still had to work. But hey that’s just life on the mish:)
Highlights:
-️found a huge leg lamp from “Christmas Story”
-Went to the temple with Nancy!! Sister Okie came too! I also got to see Sister Redhouse, who also went to Salem Hills!!
-Ate bacon wrapped quail at a member’s house, mine had a bb in it. It was awesome
-Ate breakfast for all three meals on my birthday!
-had another tornado warning
-had a wonderful time playing Bingo!! One of my besties Glenda and I teamed up, but she was the only one betting nickels since missionaries can’t gamble even for a lukewarm coke haha
-Sister Sody ran a stop sign (totally throwing her under the bus but it’s hilarious)
Spiritual thought:
Last night we had a lesson with Eric. He has been praying on whether or not he should get baptized. He said that it all makes sense in his head, but he just doesn’t feel the spirit very strongly. A HUGE prompting from the spirit told me what to say. I asked him how his sacrament meeting experiences have been- he goes with his girlfriend who is a member. He said okayish, and said that he doesn’t understand the bread and water part, and that he won’t partake of it until he does.
First off, that is awesome because he knows it’s important. We explained the sacrament to him, and read some scriptures. I testified that when he begins to understand the sacrament, and uses the Atonement of Jesus Christ in his life, he will have the spirit with him, and he won’t be able to deny it.
If you ask me, that’s a pretty bold statement. But hey, the spirit told me what to say, and I just went for it.
My invitation for you is this Sunday, don’t take the Sacrament for granted. Renew your covenants that you’ve made, and make goals to try to remember Jesus Christ, who has done so much for all of us.
Please pray for Harold, we had to move his baptism date back for Word of Wisdom reasons. Also pray for Eric, that he will feel the spirit.
I love you all so much!! Do something that makes you happy this week because you deserve it!
Remember Jesus loves you and so do I!
Sister Jenni<3
