Longest Week EVER!!!

Hey y’all!!

Oh. My. Goodness. I changed my P-day because I’m going the the temple today. I’m so happy to be going to the Lord’s house with Norma-Jean, but tell ya what I am TIRED!!!

But in the best way;)

Its been a kind of slow week and a half, the roads are COVERED with ice so we have not been allowed to drive. So that means:

1. doing all of our work over the phone…

2. begging members to give us rides

3. walking everywhere we go

 Soooo this week we….

-did over 60 hours of phone work

-had ALL of our lessons cancel on us

-more than half of our member meals canceled on us

-we ran out of food, money, and miles

-I made sister sody so jealous because everyones little kids come and give me the biggest hug, then just stare at her…and it always happens to the people who we’ve never met. She says it’s a spiritual gift haha.

-got my fingernails painted by Dallas’ little girl named Haven.

-got our hair cut by sister kern, she’s from Salem and I had NO IDEA!!

-watched “why I believe” which is basically just a testimony meeting of new converts to the church. One guy told us that what brought him to the gospel was a near death experience… meaning he “woke up” and he was already in the morgue…. so he started talking to the missionaries!!

-I had New Missionary Graduation! Not a lot of missions do this, but I got to teach all of the lessons by myself to different trainers!! President was watching mine (I had no idea) and he said that if he was someone looking for the truth he would want to be taught by me. That made me so happy to hear because I can be really hard on myself as a missionary.

-Had dinner with Joe and Margaret, they are literally just the cutest.

-I got bumhurt because Dan only wanted to talk to Sister Sody and not me… he calls me “the other missionary”

-We had sister Sodys funeral

-had a wicked hail storm

-taught sister sody some swing dance moves, and she taught me the Hannah Montana dance

-I drew Hammy from "Over the Hedge" for sister Sody. Ngl I feel like I did pretty okay.

Spiritual thought:

We had some departing testimonies this week, which is always kind of sad but even more inspiring.

One thing that really stuck with me is that I am one of two missionaries assigned to my area with the authority to do what Apostles do, which is to invite other’s to come unto Christ full time. If I’m not doing my job, no one is. People can help, of course, anyone can be a missionary. But not to the extent that I have the authority and privilege to do.

Of course this applies to lots of occupations and responsibilities, so when it comes to y’all, if you have a job to do, do it with one hundred percent of what you have.

I’ve shared this before, but Doctrine and Covenants 4 is seriously one of my favorites:

Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.

2 Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.

3 Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work;

4 For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul;

5 And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work.

6 Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence.

7 Ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Amen.

We can all share our might, and share what God has given us to the world! So do everything you do in live to the fullest!!

God loves you and so do I!!
