"My Darn Toenail" -Toni
Hello Hello!!
Wow what a week. It was so good, I’m starting off and ending with spiritual thoughts.
I love fast and testimony meetings. You never know what you’re going to hear, and you feel the Spirit. One of our returning members blessed the sacrament this week for the first time ever. He’s 39, has 5 kids, and a single dad. Bless. His. Heart. All three of us, plus his mom and some newlyweds kept the kids quiet during the sacrament.
But he also bore his testimony. He said how Jesus “delivered” him. I love that word. Jesus has delivered me so many times.
Another thing someone said was that God answers prayers in HIS way, and that we need to turn to Him in HIS way. Because it’s the best way. I felt a little chastised, I need to stop trying to do things my way, because God has much better ideas than I do.
Highlights:
♡We had Zone Conference in Lawton! It was amazing as usual, and I felt so much comfortable and peace. Cried a dozen times but that's okay.
♡Sister Allen hit a curb so hard that my sternum popped and was a little bruised. She's hit over 15 curbs this transfer.
♡Saw the PRETTIEST sunset ever. Not gonna lie, it's been such a hard week. The night before I prayed and asked God for a pretty sunset to end the next day, because nights are the hardest for me. And man, He really gave more than I asked for! I felt His love for me so strongly, and this time that I cried, it was happy tears.
♡We went to visit a SELF referral named Brenda. She opened the door and told us she wasn’t interested. A man named Braun who lived with her said that he was interested. Brenda slammed the door on us, and we kept talking to Braun. Five minutes later Brenda opens the door and says, “I changed my mind. Come in.” So we taught them!! WE HAVE TWO NEW FRIENDS IN FOURTH WARD!!!! Yay!!!
♡We visited Toni, and she was wearing 2 different shoes. We asked why and she just yelled, “My darn toenail.” We just left it at that. We also took a photoshoot with her.
♡played the Didgeridoo at the Stanfields house. It was pretty cool.
♡Dallas had her power out, so we all sat around a camp fire scented candle in the dark, and taught a lesson. It was a little weird.
We went to the temple this week with my district. Our mission president lets us go quarterly now because he knows how important the temple is. It was such an amazing experience.
On the way there we listened to "The Temple and your Spiritual Foundation" talk given by our Beloved Prophet, Russell M. Nelson in the October 2021 General Conference. I've listened and read it a handful of times, but this time stuck out to me. No matter what happens in our lives, if Jesus Christ is our foundation, even the strongest Earthquakes can’t shake us.
This week we experienced the devastation of Tornadoes. Even though our neighborhood wasn’t affected, our city had many houses destroyed, and many people injured. A total of four tornadoes were in the state of Oklahoma, and so far- as far as the missionaries know- one has been pronounced dead. These people have nothing else when it comes to worldly things.
It’s been a tough week for me, but I know that if we keep Jesus in front of us, and the world behind us, we will have everything we need.
I’d love to invite y’all to read 3 Nephi 11 this week. Email me your thoughts!! It’s my favorite chapter in the Book of Mormon, and I read it this week to give me some comfort, as well as at Brenda and Brauns lesson.
I love you all so much! Have a blessed week!
Sister Jenni<3
