Blessed Referrals For Easter
HAPPY EASTER!! He is Risen!! Easter is the best time on the mission, hands down. Did lots of personal study on Holy Week, I love Jesus so much!
Highlights:
☆We had Zone Conference!! One of my favorite events on the mission. We learned about our purpose as missionaries and how we were going to be urgent while fulfilling it.
☆helped fill eggs with the youth for the Easter Walk. 3000 eggs….
☆Gave a church tour to Jackson with the Dummers! He asked so many good questions, good thing Brother Dummer was there to help because we were stumped…
☆We got in touch with Kenzie!! She’s just been sick and is still totally interested!
☆Had a lesson with Deana, her daughter was there and she seemed pretty interested as well!
☆Got Kenneth on date for baptism! May 6 is the day! Please pray for him. He prayed for us, and called us precious servants of the Lord.
☆met a pet turkey named Rigel. It was a really strange situation, Rigel is best friends with a huge pig. Only in Norman.
☆Had the Easter Walk!!! By golly it was SO GOOD. The Spirit there was so strong, and we got some new people from it!!!
☆tried a Dr Pepper flavored peep, did not disappoint
We had SO much referral work this week, I will go ahead and tell you a little bit about some of them.
We got this referral, and we went to this guys house 3 times! After the 2nd we were on our way somewhere and I felt impressed to try one more time. We turned around and lo and behold he was there! Shirtless and a little tipsy. But he said he was interested so that’s cool. He said some strange things but I think he will be okay when it’s not the weekend….?
This one was in a sketchy apartment complex. If I were to die or go missing at all in Norman, check this place first. We went to his door, and there was no door knob, and he had written in sharpie that he had a chainsaw and weed. So that was cool. I didn’t even knock. He opened the door as we were walking away and he gave us this creepy stare and started walking towards us so we sped walked to the car and I sped off. (The only time I didn’t make my trainees back me haha, I think it’s okay when the Spirit is saying to run louder than tiwi would say check your speed)
We went to ANOTHER sketchy apartment. A guy answered, and then another guy was staring and started walking towards us. Both fairly big dudes. We’ve decided that we will be taking members of the ward with us if we go somewhere potentially scary again. I don’t get spooked too easily but those 2 did it.
We got about 10 referrals this week but those were the most interesting.
Spiritual thought:
During Zone Conference, we had a training from our Sister Training Leaders and Zone Leaders. We talked about our “why” for being out here on a mission, and why we were going to STAY out here.
One of the STLs (Sister Dunn) shared a scripture and story that touched my heart. She said that she was going through a hard time a couple of months ago and remembered a picture of Christ holding a lamb over His shoulders. A shepherd asked Him how the sheep wasn’t trying to run away.
With tears in His eyes, Christ said, “I had to break the lamb’s legs so that it would have to learn to rely on Me.”
She then shared the scripture, Luke 15:4-6:
4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
Christ hates to see us suffer. But sometimes it’s just what we need for us to turn to Him. And when He brings us back, He rejoices. I’ve definitely had times where my spiritual legs were broken, and all I could do was rely on Jesus.
He cares about us so much that he would leave the ninety and nine to care for the one. How much love the Savior has for us!!
I love you all so much, hope you had the happiest Easter! This is already kind of long so I’ll share my Easter thoughts for next week.
Have the best week!
Sister Jenni<3
