I Didn't Go Swimming But My Phone Did...

Hello darlins!

Wow. Just wow with this week. I didn't have a p-day on Monday, because we were supposed to be taking a recent convert to the temple today but he ended up canceling, so here we are.

EPIC FAIL:

So we had a CRAZY morning, on Saturday (we had to call the police and our president because of an emergency) and it wasn't even 10 am yet. So we decided to take a break and walk around the pond for a minute to destress.

In case any of y'all aren't aware, my family is accident and embarrassment prone, and the mission is no exception. (As I'm writing this I realize what an absolute DUMMY I am)

We saw that all of the little fishies were following us as we were walking along the pond, and I wanted to see if I put my fingers on the surface level if they would come up and kiss my fingers. I've had fish do it before and it's kinda fun. There was a huge tree stump that I figured that I could lay on and dangle my arm over, so I set my stuff down at the top of the slope and walked down. My plan worked perfectly, some fish DID kiss my fingers, and everything was fine until I SAW MY PHONE SLIDING DOWN THE SLOPE AND INTO THE POND.

*I'm popcorning the story to my companion so she can tell her point of view*

Hey y'all! It's Sister Lee. Here to tell the tale of the phone and the pond So, yeah, rough day lol. Mental health walks are good though, and we're all about mental health. So we go on a walk, admiring all of the wildlife that we somehow have in our little apartment pond. Of course Sister Jenni, being the Disney princess that she is, decides she's going to test out her fishing skills. I'll give it to her, the set up really was good. We even went from one sketchy spot to a less sketchy one with a stump. What could possibly go wrong? I remember laughing at her full on sprawled out over a tree stump, wiggling her fingers in the water and enjoying her new friendships. Next thing I know, I see a blue rectangle slide down the grass next to me. It was straight out of a cartoon honestly. I watch it hit the surface, *sploosh*, and then it gently drifts side to side down into the (8 inch) depths of the pond. It settles gently in the sand and small bubbles float up to the top. All of the fish friends swim away. I stand there absolutely bamboozled. Sister Jenni is no longer wearing shoes. Why? I'm not sure, because her feet never went in the pond. But it adds dramatic effect. Gotta make sure the Dudes don't get wet of course. So she reaches into the water and I imagine it looking like the picture of the Savior reaching into the water to save us, which is really a beautiful painting by the way, and retrieves her beloved phone. I take a picture, as any good companion would do, and we head inside to get some rice. There's the rundown. P.S. for Sister Jenni's parents: Thanks for blessing me with the best companion in the world. You created one of the funniest people to ever walk the earth, the most loving friend, and one of the greatest examples to me of being a disciple of Christ! Also, Jesus loves you

Haha back to me! So yeah that happened…

And yes my phone still works just fine

Highlights!

☆had a FIRE exchange with Hermana Matthews. Don't ask about my Español, there isn't any:) Had some cool miracles with her, she's a powerful missionary.

☆went on a nice run since my watch started working, and mid run I saw a mulberry tree and decided to have a snacky snack.

☆helped out at the special Olympics in Stillwater, we helped run the special needs track meet. It was so fun cheering on everyone. Funnest day of service ever!

☆Sister Lee and I also took a picture with Ronald McDonald. I'm scared of clowns so that's cool. He was trying to convince me he wasn't a clown, but a mascot, I wasn't buying it.

☆PUT 4 PEOPLE ON DATE FOR BAPTISM!! The work is GOING in Enid!!

☆Had lunch at a really good Mexican restaurant called Sandys! Sandy was a lady that the missionaries converted, and since then all missionaries eat free. She has passed on, but it's still a tradition for us to go once a transfer!

☆made and delivered cookies so that our ward will like us

Spiritual Moment:

We went to this place called Enid Welcome Table, where another church feeds the homeless and needy. We go every week to be waitresses! It's so fun.

Anywho, I was in charge of the two busier tables, so of course it was a little slower getting food to everyone. One man who wasn't super patient started to say some not nice things to me because his food wasn't ready for him. I apologized and went back to the kitchen to see if his food was ready yet.

I was feeling frustrated, and kind of mad at him. I was thinking, "I'm only 20 years old, trying my best, why is he being so rude?!"

But then something cool happened.

I remembered Mosiah 2:17

"And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."

I felt the tiniest sliver of the love that God felt for him. And the concern that God felt for one of His sons. It made me start to tear up. So I decided that no matter how people treat me, I'm going to TRY to serve them no different than I would serve Jesus.

EVERYONE! THAT is what this work is about! We are all SO LOVED by God!! YOU ARE LOVED!!

Anywho, there's my Spiritual thought.

I'm not going to apologize for how long this is because I lost the rest of the dignity I had telling the tale of the phone in the pond. I hope you enjoyed it.

Have a blessed couple of days!

Sister Jenni<3
