Into The Wataz.
Oh my goodness, what a crazy and awesome week this has been.
Let me just start with the Glascos.
On Thursday, we had the Baptimsal interviews with the boys, it went really well!
Friday, we had the dad’s interview, but there was something that he needed to clear up with President Hugues. We were going to come back that evening because that’s when President was available. Long story short, after some ward members pulling us into their drama, lots of phone calls made to refer it to the Bishop, we show up at the Glasco’s house and THE DAD ISN’T THERE. THE BAPTISM IS IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. AND OUR PRESIDENT IS ALREADY ON THE ZOOM. He just took off lol. So we drive about a half hour out of our area to the other ward’s Bishop’s house where the YM are having a campout. (the Glasco’s oldest boy was there and the drama was basically about all of that lol) We run about a quarter mile to the dad’s tent, and the interview was held there. It took an hour, which left Sister Ras and I without a sim card, in the heat, in our dresses. So of course we did a photoshoot lol. But hey, President said he was good to go!
SATURDAY!! The baptism actually went pretty well. Usually after someone is baptized, they take about 5-10 minutes to get changed into their other clothes, right? Wrong. 20 minutes later, I hear splashing in the font. Low and behold, THE BOYS ARE SWIMMING IN THE FONT! So hilarious. So the whole changing time was about 45 minutes. I sang the uke and sang for the musical number so that was fun. We slept so good that night….
Sunday… we woke up and got a text that the Glasco’s puppy passed away. There’s apparently some kind of dog illness going around Enid. But they still came to church and got the Holy Ghost during sacrament meeting. For one of the blessings, the member of the bishopric said the wrong kid. The kid whose name was said goes, “BISHOP!! I’M JAHIEM!!”
What a weekend, folks. But hey, I am sooo thankful for the Glascos and for their faith. I know I was supposed to teach and help them on their journey, no matter how crazy the weekend was.
Other Highlights!
☆A lady told me that I was going to be abducted by aliens and cloned on August 12th so that was cool.
☆we were deathly ill for 2 days.
☆we spent some time on Base. Good times.
☆ had lunchie at Eskimo Joe's!
☆ Sister Ras had to go under the classroom divider. It was her turn since I went last time.
Spiritual thoughts:
I just wanted to once again tell you about how great missions are. If a mission is something that is an option for you: go. 24 or 18 months may seem like a long time, but when you’re serving the Lord, it absolutely is the best use of your time. You learn how to be a true follower of Christ, you gain lasting friendships with companions, and most importantly you gain a close relationship with the Savior. Bonus: you laugh literally all the time because the work is awesome, but the people are hilarious.
That’s all. I’m going to rest because after this week I need a good ol nappy.
Love you all! Say your prayers and remember Jesus loves you!
