Something In The Water...

What on EARTH was this week? Hope it was calm for everyone outside of the state of Oklahoma because this week was insane.

Highlights:

☆a man spoke to me in tongues, I low key thought it was just my ears being dumb like usual so I stupidly asked him to repeat himself lol. Only in the Bible Belt…

☆Played in the rain during our dinner break, we were out and about and it started POURING BUCKETS!! We got to the church and we were already soaked so we just decided to live laugh love… Until I realized I was wearing white pants…

☆Made Sister Lee pull over for .2 seconds because I found a mulberry tree! I found one with Hermana Matthews a while back on our exchange, but I couldn’t find it again. Sister Lee does not like Mullberries. I think they’re the bestest.

☆Had interviews with President Hugues/ Roleplays with the APs, I also talked to the President's wife and 14 year old daughter about how she would be friends with my sisters because she has lots of Nikes.

☆I was just minding my own business and eating a donut and a dude called me donut lady then apologized out of fear because he made fun of a servant of the Lord

☆We actually had 3 member meals this week! Usually we get one on a good week, progress is being made, the ward is starting to like us!

☆Learned how to Hula dance. In Enid there are a TON of islanders, we have a Marshallese branch. Sister Logo wanted to teach us how to Hula! I'm going to be so sore tomorrow.

☆I lost my tag magnet while sliding under a church classroom divider so I had to find another way. (See pictures)

☆had a blitz with the Meridian Sisters, we ate at the one and only Eskimo Joe's!!

Awko Taco Saturday:

I don’t know WHAT it was but here’s some quotes from older (age 50-65) men to me. All on Saturday.

“I cannot get over how pretty you are” *literally drooled on the floor and made the excuse that he was chewing ice even though he has no teeth*

“Are you married?”

“How old are you?”

“How much longer do you have as a missionary?”

“let me take you to a soccer game tomorrow”

“you are a VERY beautiful woman”

I tap out

DYLAN IS BAPTIZED!!!

Wow. It has been amazing to see his progress in the past month. I love seeing people turn the tables of their lives for the better in Christ’s name.

His baptism day was so hectic. We got to the church, and started filling the font 2 hours before. (our font takes about an hour and a half so we were chillin) an hour later, THE FONT IS NOT EVEN A FOOT DEEP!

We panicked, and started filling up an orange Gatorade cooler with water from the kitchen and poured it into the font. We did that for a straight hour. We got it to about 3 feet deep, they were just going to have to work with that. By the end of that we were drenched. Whether it was water or sweat I have no idea haha. There must be something in the water this week because between filling up the baptismal font and playing in the rain I've definitely got more soaked than the average missionary.

Anywho, Dylan's baptism went great! Sister Lee played the piano and I sang for the musical number, and there were great talks!

Then the baptism….

Brother Fergus took one step, looked at us, and just shuddered because it was cold. Dylan was an absolute stud. The prayer was said, and Dylan just laid flat as a board in the water. It was one of the funniest/ most sacred things I will ever witness. He forgot to plug his nose, so he just inhaled and sunk to the bottom of the font. Sister Lee and I gave the thumbs up and it was done! Later we asked Dylan if it was cold and he said, “a little bit…” He is so funny.

Dylan works the night shift so sometimes mornings are a little hard for him. We were at the church, quarter to 9, and Brother Fergus showed up empty handed. Now as a missionary, that is the most stressful thing when a baptized member doesn’t show up for church the next day, especially when your mission president is President Hugues. Super nice guy, but the last thing I want to do is stress him out even more- and we were seeing him later that day. Brother Fergus said that Dylan just woke up and that Sister Fergus was going to bring him. He showed up right before the sacrament and was confirmed an official member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! Now we can breathe and keep working!!

Another Miracle!

We were street contacting, and 2 guys said that we were weird so we walked away. And then we got attacked by a dog, and the neighbor came out and we said hello but he said he didn't speak English. So we called the Hermanas and they didn't pick up, but we called another Elder who spoke Spanish and he had a conversation and we got his number. We walked away and right then the Hermanas called us. We answered the call and then another lady who spoke Spanish came out of her house. We started talking to her and the Hermanas were able to talk to her. She wasn't interested, but her daughter is who speaks English. Her name is Paula. We were supposed to have a lesson with her  At the church beforehand (she was a referral to the Hermanas and they were going to pass her off to us.) but she didn't show so she apologized to us. It's amazing how God puts people in our path. A couple days later we also ran into Paula at the library. She is so sweet and wants to meet with us!

Sorry this is so long, if you've made it this far you're a champ

Love you all! Have a good week!
