Wayne @ Taco Bell
Hey y’all! What a week for the books. Please pray for John and Andy! Their baptisms are coming up!
Cool parts of my week:
☆oh my Wayne is so cool. He sent in a referral, and we met with him on Saturday. He has been going through a rough time, and wants to get back on track with his life again. We put him on baptismal date for September 9! He was so excited, he got a little teary and so did we, right in the middle of taco bell.
☆we had zone conference, and basically trained on everything taught in MLC. It was my first training I gave where I wasn't super nervous, so that was cool.
☆got jump scared at a bagel place by the worker giving me my bagel. She apologized, then 30 seconds later I heard, "I totally scared that Lady…." So I guess I'm that lady now…
☆saw the cutest little towns during our lunch hour. Sister Rassy and I had a ball exploring! I'm a sucker for a good boutique.
☆Tried to heart attack a member's door, but she opened it in the process. So we ended up helping her 4 kids into the car.
☆we were street contacting, and this guy had a tortoise that could have eaten me it was so big. But the guy wasn’t interested at all:(
☆ We are meeting literally everyone and their dog from sober homes. A lot of our new friends live there, and they know us pretty well. We've met guys fishing on the lawns, and guys who give us ice cold DPs. I can't have cold stuff so that's where Andy comes in.
☆had some long drives in the countryside and found the cutest house with a dock and pond. #dreamhome
☆Got a package for my 9 months in the field! What a weird thing to think that I've been here for 9 months already, I have trust issues with time…
☆Sister Rassy and I decided that we are going to start romanticizing our lives more so we had personal study in a cute little coffee shop and got hot chocolate
☆ We had a lesson with Mason! Total hick guy. He told us he only wanted to go to Heaven if there was mud so that he could play in it. So we told him there would be mud.
☆ we did our usual service, but all of the Airforce student pilots joined us, and their instructor was trying to get us to date them or something. It was so awkward. Don't worry, I told them the only man I had in my heart at the moment was Jesus.
BIGGEST MIRACLE!!!
Okay so we were a little worried about John making his baptismal date. Monday night, we got a text from him saying that he was on day 3 of cold turkeying EVERYTHING! We stopped by his house to give him some orange julius (that helps get some of the bad stuff out of your body quicker) and we saw his 5 year old, Kuriah! She is just the cutest little girl ever, and she is attached to my hip. She asked what my tag said, and I read it for her and let her try it on. She told me she wanted to be a missionary too, and I told her she can if she gets baptized when she's older.
"Oh, heck no I'm not doing that!"
She is so funny. We explained that baptism just meant that you choose to follow Jesus, and that her dad was making that choice next month.
"Oh I didn't know that. Yeah I want to follow Jesus. Who is Jesus?"
We showed her the video of Christ when He was resurrected, and she started to cry. A five year old. She told us she felt different and started to cry. Wow.
This helped me realize just how much of an impact the gospel can make on people's lives. This is what the work is all about, seeing the joy in people's eyes and helping the people you love feel the love of Christ.
Oh I just love my mission, this is for sure the hardest thing I've ever done, and even though I'm going through a rough patch with my health I know that I'm out here for a reason, to love and serve certain people.
Have an awesome week everyone! Jesus loves you!
Sister Jenni<3
