Spiritual Pedaling Takes Both Feet!
HEY Y’ALL!
Wow. I can’t even put into words how excited I am to be back serving the Lord. I’m so blessed to be a part of this great work, and actually feel good enough while doing it!
I'm in Oklahoma City right now and I love it! The ward is great, our friends are on fire, and holy cow we get SO. MANY. REFERRALS.
Highlights!
☆Last Wednesday my parents and I made the short trip from KC to OKC! Bittersweet goodbye, but time will fly by for sure.
☆I have the most wonderful companions! Sister Mills has been out for about 5 months, and Sister Lloyd has been out just over a month… which means… I’M TRAINING!! Not what I expected at all but I’m all for training!
☆We had Zone Conference! It was so good to see all of my best friends and get even more pumped up for the work
☆Sister Lloyd caught air while biking because she’s really bad at looking ahead and she literally went up a little ramp.
☆Had the sweetest moment in Sacrament meeting, the Spirit gave me the best little assurance that I’m supposed to be in this ward, with these companions. I love it when that happens.
EPIC FAIL:
We serve at a place called Salvation Army every Monday, and I was helping a lady who only spoke Spanish get her groceries for the week. It was actually going well with my very broken Spanish, we had a pretty good conversation while shopping. She asked me how much fruit she could take, and for some reason my brain fumbled and instead of telling her how much I told her that the fruit was pleased to meet her. It didn't take me long to realize what I said and we had a good laugh. Good thing I'm not an Hermana haha.
MIRACLES!!!
☆Okay, the biggest one is our friend Israel. He is ELECT. His dad Juan sent in a referral, but when we went to their home, only Israel was there. Any normal 18 year old boy would be like “Okay whatever, see ya” but he was asking us questions and we had the best mini lesson! Fast forward to now, Juan has been sick and not able to meet with us, but Israel has come to church by himself, has met with us a few times, and is on date to be baptized March 22nd!! We are so excited for him! The ward loves him, and people are asking US if they could join us for lessons. Just wow.
☆In this area we do a good amount of biking (which I LOVE!) But I was a little nervous of overdoing it since I had my surgery 4 weeks ago, and I didn’t want to jump into anything my body wasn’t ready for. But yesterday we biked about 15 miles (with some hefty hills) and I felt totally fine! Weirdly enough I'm not sore at all today, what a win haha. I know that it’s only by the Lord’s hand that I’m able to work and feel good when at the beginning of the month my mom was still helping me get out of bed. That’s how I know that I’m needed out here in the field, and I know that God is looking out for me.
In Zone Conference, President Hugues trained on putting in the work to have the Spirit with us, and also relying on the Spirit when it’s with us. But I wanted to share his closing remarks. He told us that success in the work is like being on a bike, we have to pedal with both feet to go anywhere. President said that we need to pedal with both feet, and to pedal HARD. He then testified that missionaries and mission leaders are called to each other, and will be called to each other for more than just an 18 month- 2 year mission. He told us that he’s always pedaling hard for us, and he always will. “You will never be rid of Sister Hugues and I. We are like the worst infection you’ve ever had. An infection of LOVE!” He’s too funny.
I’ve pondered what he said a lot this week, especially while biking funny enough. Do I have both feet pedaling? How can I pedal even harder so that I can reach my full potential as a missionary, and more importantly as a disciple of Jesus Christ? Just something to think about:)
My invitation this week is to make the decision to “pedal” with both feet in all that you do. Are you making the necessary choices to have the Spirit with you, and using the presence of the Spirit to bless others around you? Please take some time to think about it, I’d love to hear any thoughts that y’all have!
I have so much more but I’ve already written a literal novel, so if you’ve made it this far I love you haha. You’re a champ.
Hope y’all have a great week! Remember God loves you so much and so do I!
