"Lazarus, Come Forth..."
Hey Hey!
This week went by WAYYY too fast!
We had a mission tour with Elder John Schmitt and his wife, and it was AMAZING! If I wrote all of my thoughts, you’d be reading for like weeks- so we are going to do that. I’ll share a little bit each week. It’s worth it, I promise!
This week I’ll share what we learned in MLC with him. He first shared the story of when Jesus brings Lazarus from the dead saying, “Lazarus, come forth.” (John 11: 43) To be in Lazarus’ shoes… quite the experience.
He turns the focus to Elder Holland, one of the most urgent, hard working men on this earth. He was already SO urgent, but even he said in his last general conference address, “Virtually all my experience in the hospital during that first period is lost to my memory. What is not lost is my memory of a journey outside the hospital, out to what seemed the edge of eternity. I cannot speak fully of that experience here, but I can say that part of what I received was an admonition to return to my ministry with more urgency, more consecration, more focus on the Savior, more faith in His word.”
I take that address very seriously, given that I’ve had to leave the mission field. Now that I’m good and healthy, I’ve rededicated myself to work even harder, to have even more faith, and to trust my Savior even more.
Elder Schmitt invited us to be even more urgent in our work, as we are representing Jesus Christ, and participating in His work.
“The work you are doing right now, is it any different from Christ raising Lazarus from the dead? These people are spiritually dying, and even spiritually dead. You are called to bring them back to life.”
I can’t put into words how it felt to be in that room. The power, love, and assurance that God hears, loves, and teaches brought me to tears several time. I’m so lucky and thankful for the time that I have to sacrifice everything to God. To sacrifice means to “make sacred”. To be able to grow, love, and change lives- especially mine- is a beautiful gift from God, and I’m so thankful.
Other than that, it’s been such a good week!
We taught this cute returning family the Plan of Salvation, their girls loved it! I adore them. We had soo many long drives with the windows down, too many PB&J’s, and many many miles biked! We also went to the temple with our new member Elizabeth, she's too cute.
Have the best week ever! Happy Father’s day to all the Father figures in my life! Love you all!
Remember God loves you and so do I!
